Jennifer McAneny

 

Thank you for your interest in my tutoring services. I'm Jennifer McAneny, a lifelong educator, professional tutor, mother, and lover of math!

I began my education at Duke University, where I graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Political Science and Psychology. I went on to earn my Master of Social Work from Norfolk State University. My educational background provides me with an understanding of each child's unique learning perspective and preferences. 

​

I have been a teacher for almost twenty years and have enjoyed teaching a variety of children in grades  Pre-K through 11th. Most recently, I worked as a middle and upper school math teacher and the head of the math department at The Calverton School in Huntingtown, Maryland.

I have eight years of experience as a one-on-one tutor. I love being able to work individually with all of my students, as it allows me to customize their learning based on the student's strengths and weaknesses. I realize every child learns in a different way and at their own pace. While I can help my students prepare for tests and complete homework, I also emphasize real and internalized understanding of material. This enables each child to not only do well in the short-term but to gain the skills needed to succeed throughout their entire educational career.
